Now probably many of you new owners of a Mi Drone are possibly frustrated on how to sign into the FiMi App which controls the Mi Drone. Now let me walk you thru step by step for you to completely fly your Mi Drone smoothly.
First things first, you need to download the MI UAV English App by MarkH here:
https://xiaomi.eu/signed_com.fimi.soul-en-xiaomi.eu.apk
Now go to this webpage and register yourself another Mi Account:
Mi Account Registration
Create a new account using an Email Address, and set region to China.
Then Install the MI UAV English App and sign in using this account you just made. This is to bypass server detection that you are outside China, most likely Mi Drone is still locked to be used within China only.
If it asked you to update firmware, please do not update as many users report the app will keep on crashing once you updated it.
Now proceed on connecting your phone to your drone, you will need to turn on GPS on your phone as well as Data and make a USB Tether to share with the Remote Control (need to plug in USB).
Then just click next to the slides it will show you:
You will be asked to calibrate the Mi Drone, here is how you can calibrate properly the Mi Drone, I will show you a video on how to do it properly

Then some of you will encounter no GPS like I do on my unit. Now this is fixed in the new firmware for the Mi Drone, problem is when you update firmware, the app will keep on crashing. This is what we did to fix it.
Uninstall the English App and download the official chinese app which can be found on the manual of your Mi Drone (you need to scan the QR code)
Install the Chinese app and log in using your new Mi Account. Its currently at v0.0.41
Then dont forget to turn on GPS and Mobile data and USB tether on your phone.
The app will prompt you for a new firmware update, just click the button on the Right. It will take you several minutes to upgrade firmware until you hear the Mi Drone keep beeping, it means its successfully updated already.
Then just press next to the tutorial until it reaches this page with a map
Now that you have updated your firmware, make sure you are on GROUND ZERO meaning not anywhere above the ground and make sure there are no obstacle within 5 Meter radius of the drone. Now you have to stand within 3 meter away from the drone to prevent any accident.
Now you will need around 5 minutes for the GPS to get a hold of itself. when you see an X on top of the screen it means you still cannot fly, but as soon as you see an Check on top of the screen means your are clear to fly. Now click the Lightning icon on the right and click the first icon saying 起飞 which means take off. As soon as the icon is pressed, the 4 propellers will spin and you are ready to take off!
Here is my video tutorial on how to fly the Mi Drone:
Now you can uninstall the chinese app and revert back to English App when you need it in english language.
This is captain mitch002, flying off.
Trivia:
When you invert the remote of the Mi Drone, it looks just like a cat!
