Since the launch of Mi4, it took us nearly 19 months to wait for the next flagship which is no doubtedly called the Mi5. As one of the most anticipated flagship from Xiaomi, this smartphone was worth the wait. Measuring the quality of the product in addition to its bang for the buck price, workmanship was also important to buyers these days. Now we have here is the actual teardown of the flagship, in case you have some little problem that needs disassembing procedure, here is the official one.
The Glass / Ceramic battery cover of Mi5 is well placed at the back, you need a suction cup to pull it out, but make sure you apply proper pressure otherwise you will break a leg, i mean you will break a pin thats supposed to be snapped to the body.
The Mi5 internal body uses three-stage design, to save the battery compartment for more spaces, as compared to the Mi4, the overall workmanship here is more concise and well planned.
Mounted on top of the battery are the NFC tags.
Disconnect the battery from the phone. the sub-plate assembly, the screen assembly, the side buttons, and the connection from the light sensor and the motherboard. The whole process is very easy to do.
Body part of the motherboard are fixed with with screws, unscrew the screws and you can can easily go to the next board.
Most of the bottom part of the phone is dedicated to the speaker module, using LDS technology.
Remove the phone's speaker, you can see the sub-panels.
Remove the sub-plate and the body using screw driver, and lift the double sided tape, you can find the screen panel. Screen components used foam rubber fixed mode, the screen is using IN-CELL technology.
Mi5 Capacity touch keys, home button and power buttons can be found.
Overall, the Mi5 dismantling method is not so hard, we can rate is at a difficulty of 5/10. There are 33 parts that were found and its pretty compact. Pretty crafty workmanship, excellent design and good value for money. This is the reason why Mi5 sells like hotcake in Mainland China.
