Even though is world's largest smartphone maker, Samsung is not among the companies that offers Android OS updates in a swift manner. On the contrary, some would say that the South Korean company is among the last to provide major OS upgrades, especially for mid-range devices.

It's understandable that Samsung wants customers who purchased its flagship smartphones to be up to date with the latest Android releases coming from from Google, but there are more consumers who own mid-range handsets which are usually getting updates very late.
