Mi5 vs Mi MIX: Side by Side Comparison

2016 we saw two of the most iconic Xiaomi releases ever, in the form of Mi5 and the reality concept phone the Mi MIX. As we end the year, we like to give you a short comparison on the physical aspect of the two flagship of the year for Xiaomi.
I personally have been using the Mi5 Pro Ceramic since its debut and I am very happy and satisfied with it, now the Mi MIX came along with my favorite feature, the scratch proof ceramic case, its hard not to give it a try, but honestly Im not a fan of huge phone like the Mi Max, its so hard to operate on one hand which I normally do.
But I made an excemption for the Mi MIX since its a concept phone which everyone even the i-geeks are dying just to try it, for a Xiaomi Gadget Reviewer like me, its a must have and thankfully we landed the Mi MIX 256GB variant.
Let me share you a video by PhonesRadar on the camera comparison of the two phones, but I know obviously the one with the Sony Sensor (Mi5 Sony IMX278) should walk away as the winner.
So after the video, the clear winner is definitely the Mi5, only Mi 5S can top those photos, but without the 4-Axis OIS, its still behind a bit.
Now lets take a look at the physical of the two phones
Hands down on the back that we have the Ceramic finish back case, these are scratch proof and can withstand a level 7 scratch which is pretty impressive.
Taking a look down there its almost identical that they have the USB C port and the loudspeaker holes down there.
Taking a look at the left there is the sim card slot which both sports 2 nano sims and no memory expansions.
On the right it sports the volume rocker and the power button. Pretty the same for both device.
On top we have the noise cancellation mic, IR and the 3.5mm audio jack.
Now taking a look up front you can see the camera of the Mi5 is on top while the Mi MIX is at the bottom, the Mi5 has an earpiece while the Mi MIX uses vibration to create sound for the ears, and the Mi MIX has no capacitive buttons while Mi5 has the physical home button and 2 capacitive buttons as well.
We put it side by side and we can clearly see that the Mi5 is thicker by a few markers compared to the Mi MIX.
In terms of size this is pretty amazing, since Mi MIX is bezeless, the size is not far from Mi5, its just a litle taller and a little wider but the screen size is 6.4" vs 5".
Now holding Mi5 on one hand is a breeze
Holding the Mi MIX was a little iffy at first due to its size, but eventually I get used to type on one hand using the Mi MIX! Which is impossible to achieve on the Mi MAX.
Overall both phones are great, its up to you to choose which one you would like to have this Christmas.
