This item is so nostalgic which takes me back to my college thesis which is all about Indoor Air Quality. Wherein we gather all air data from all the important location, be it in the car, bus, school and malls. It was really bad back then where we need to get air samples and take it to the chemical laboratory in our university just to get it analyzed for particulate matter content, benzene and tolouene.
Now its so easy to gather data for particulate matter present in the area that you want to test, I wish this was present during my college days. Probably Lei Jun is still in college as well.

Introducing the Mi PM 2.5 Detector, where in all you need is just a powerbank to powerup this gadget to gather PM 2.5 data away from sockets. I have tested it in my car and remote areas and were able to test for data just for fun.
Whats in the Box:

Here goes the testing mode!

We were able to switch from PM 2.5 data display to Clock mode using the Mi Home App after binding. Inside the coffee shop, we recorded a data of 30 - 34 which is quite good. Then as we step outside the coffee shop, we got a data of 58 which is still acceptable.
0 - 75 Green
76 - 149 Orange
150 Up Red

We then went to an industrial zone, we recorded a 78 reading on the meter inside the non air conditioned room, but we then ran the aircon and air get filtered as well as a Mi Air Purifier Pro is present. The reading then later dropped to 42 after 1 hour, it just proves the Mi Air Purifier is really effective.
You can set conditions as well, like when PM hits 50 and up, automatically turn on the Mi Air Purifier Pro. When it drops below 35 it can be turned off already to save electricity as well.

This awesome gadget can be yours for 399 RMB at the Xiaomi Webstore in China.
