by mitch002

Enter the most expensive Mi Gadget that I have reviewed to date, the Mi Laser Projection TV is priced at 9999 RMB, equivalent to the price of the 65" Curved Mi TV 4. Not every reviewer gets to be lucky to review one of these expensive stuffs, but really this is something that I am pretty amazed at, the technology behind this gadget. Imagine yourself having your own cinema at home, with a projected screen size of 150 inches, its just like watching movie at the comfort of your own home.

Whats in the Box:

Remote:
This remote design is just made for this machine, I have reviewed all the other remotes, from Mi Box 4, Mi Box 4c, and Mi TV 4C, but this one is quite special, having a fusion of Black and White blending in harmony, the buttons are covered in black color to prevent it from getting smudges and dirt due to daily use. While the body of the remote control is glossy white to maintain its elegant design when coupled together with the projector itself. This remote uses 2 AAA batteries, its best to use rechargeables for environment conservation purpose. Bluetooth and Voice command is present on this unit, but the voice command only supports Chinese at the moment.

Actual Unit:
We were so hyped that we immediately whooped out the projector to have it tested, only to find out that there are some holes in our white wall. Nevertheless, it didnt stopped us from exploring this goodie as we hooked it up to the desktop pc using an HDMI Cable, plus we also hooked the audio to our home theatre system to make sure we get cinematic worthy sounds when we will start to watch a movie. We were able to watch one whole movie in Spiderman 2: Homecoming. It was pretty much a good experience to watch it at home, next investment would probably be a big 150 inch projector screen. The fight sceen was so realistic that its rendered in almost 3D like effect that can probably let you feel that you are part of the scene itself.
Aside from watching movies, we tried to render a power point presentation and it was quite amazing and we were stunned with the large display, its just feels like we are launching a new Xiaomi smartphone with that kind of presentation screen size.

The projection comes from the top of the unit

The front panel is where the sounds comes from.

The laser projection

Direct View Sensor, it lowers brightness when a human body approaches the projector

Exhaust on the sides, the lever is to adjust the height

Pretty much a lot of port back there

3 HDMI, USB 3, AV In, AV Out, SPDIF, LAN and Power

Whats underneath the unit, there seems to be mount for ceiling

Actual Projection to Wall:
Here are the actual usage photos we took while projecting it to the wall, we just simply have to turn off the lights to get better projection results.

We asked the remote for weather report via voice command and it showed the weather report in Beijing

Startup screen of the projector, same with Mi Box and Mi TV Tiled Display

The apps that are pre installed, similar again to Mi Box and Mi TV

We tried to use wireless display from our Mi 6 to the Mi Laser Projector

Inception!

Watching Spiderman 2: Homecoming

Even under bright lightings, the projected image is still good.

Conclusion:
We were pretty much blown away by this machine, its like having your own home cinema. We love the way it was designed, very minimalist yet elegant at the same time. If you have a nice space at home where you can relax and watch movies on a big screen, then this is a very good investment, with Xiaomi teaming up with Texas Instruments on this projector, what more can you ask for?
This item is available in Xiaomi Webstore in China for 9999 RMB.
