How to UNLOCK Bootloader of Mi5







Note: This was done personally from China Stable Rom to China Dev Rom. I havent tried on Global Stable to China Dev. If error persist you might need to Flash TWRP to be able to get to China Dev Rom from Global Stable Rom.
If you really need to gain Root access of your brand new Mi5, let me show you how.


Step 1: Go to download section of the forum and download the latest China Dev Rom available

Step 2. Place the downloaded Zip file to the downloaded_rom folder found in the root folder of your Mi5, if you dont have this folder, simply create one.






Step 3. Select to the Updater App of your phone






Step 4. Click the ... icon at the upper right of the app


Step 5. Select Choose Update package






Step 6: Locate the Rom you placed inside Downloaded_rom and select that file, then let the phone do its job






Now you are already in Chine Dev Rom (take note that ONLY this Rom can request to be unlocked)


Lets proceed to request for unlock permission


Step 1: Hit your browser, en.miui.com and click the unlock icon found at the upper right of the screen. or you can simply go to this site: en.miui.com/unlock






Step 2: Click the Unlock Now button and sign in your account






Step 3: Sign your name, country, phone number, reason for unlocking then hit the green button to request code






Step 4: You will receive an SMS unlock code after several days (normally takes a week)


Step 5: Proceed again to put your code at en.miui.com/unlock


Step 6: It will request you to download the Mi Unlock Software just simply click the Green Icon and you will be downloading, if download failed, put an "o" in front of bigota to proceed.

Step 7: Unzip / Extract the file, then right click on the MIFlashUnlock.exe and Run as Administrator






Step 8: Click Accpet then Log in your account and click the green button






Step 9: Turn off your phone and then hold Vol Down + Power to put it into Fastboot Mode, then connect the USB to PC



Step 10: Click Unlock Now






Step 11: Once it hit 100% your phone is unlock, reboot your phone.


Step 12: Go to Security App, Click Permission






Step 13: Click Allow Root Access and Accept, and it will update itself into rooted. Take note that your access is only SU and not SuperSU level, therefore there are still some limitations.






Step 14: Congratulations you are now Rooted!
