Finally Xiaomi has released their own dash camera for the car under the Mijia Ecosystem. Dubbed as the Mijia Car Dash Camera, this one is build under one of the better camera sensor using a Sony IMX 323. To round up the specs, it has 1920 x 1080 Resolution which includes a G sensor to detect incoming danger (some call it ADAS), it comes with a 2.19 Megapixel Sonly IMX 323 Cmos Sensor in a 3 inch touch panel LCD as well as build in Wifi for easy access on the phone. Not bad for its specs right? priced just at 349 RMB, this camera is pretty a good one for its price. But let me warn you before hand that this only sports Simplified Chinese language no matter what I do to make it English. Now, if you cant read Chinese, its not really a camera intended for you at the moment. But most of the functions are pretty basic.

Now you may be pretty familiar with other brand of dash cameras in the market particular the Yi Dash Camera, they all have 1 function, to capture video on the road, should anything happen and you want to recall what really happened on video, this is your best gadget to have. Now, there are some dash cameras which are pretty hard to use, you need to access the videos on the camera which is pretty slow, unlike this one, you just need to connect it to the Mi Home App, connect to the wifi of the Dash Cam, load the video and your on it.
Now this camera is a little above the others, therefore the required micro sd card needs to be of the higher class, you need to use a UHS1 or above to make sure you have a smooth recording on the road. Now how to detect if your card is UHS1? Check for example Sandisk, you can see under the Micro SD name it has HC 1, it means high class 1, this is already good enough for your Mijia Car Dash Cam to perform at its best. Any lower than this the video might be compromised as the writting speed is not enought to accomodate the required speed of the camera.
The overall performance of the Mijia Car Dash Camera is better than we expected, with the build around the Sony IMX 323 sensor, which is aimed at video surveilance and security cameras, it boosted the capability of the camera's performance in low light. We can record up to 130 minutes of footage on Full HD recording before the camera will start erasing the old recorded videos on its own (this is using a 16GB micro sd card). When sensed with danger, the camera will hard code record the scene for 30 seconds, this is to prevent the erasure of important video that you might need to retrieve later on the trip.
Mijia Dash Cam vs Yi Dash Camera Video:
We had a nice time playing around with this camera, and one thing is for sure, the plate number of the car in the dark we can read in the Mijia Car Dash Cam while it cannot be read and blurred on the Yi Car Dash Cam. This is where the performance comes into play. Once again, if you cannot read chinese, this is not really intended for you. But if you can, its pretty much a good buy at 349 RMB.
